Active Community Development Organization (ACDO) is a non-Governmental Organization and non-profit making located in the region of Zanzibar in the Republic of Tanzania. It was established on 14th, Dec 2020 and re- registered in 2021 under the societies Act No. 9 of 1995, with the registration Number: Z0000135592. The organization was founded by active development-minded youth with the strategic goal to facilitate and improve quality community development livelihood, gender equality through equal rights to access opportunities to better social services, responding to youth challenges, responding and addressing to HIV/AIDS, TB and COVID19, improving environmental conservation and promoting sustainable smart skills and technology that mitigate the impact of climate change through working in-close partnership with the community in Tanzania and Zanzibar in general. ACDO vowed to respond due to the challenges that hinder the development of our community we had to come together as an organization to make positive changes to make the world better place for everyone and where “No one left behind”.

Organizational Objectives
- • To improve access to clean and safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). • To improve environmental conservation and promote sustainable smart agriculture that is resilient to the impact of climate change. • Ending gender based violence (GBV) and empowering and advocating youth, women and children to development aspects by promoting gender equality through equal opportunities for all. • To engage youth and women through blue economy by support them through local aquaculture’s entrepreneurship. • To improve healthy lives, providing psychological support and promote well-beings through sexual health & rights (SHRs) for all-at all ages. • To empower youth and women in social economic development aspects through live skills, entrepreneurship. • To prevent new infection of fight against HIV/AIDS, TB, and promote effective prevention, treatment, care and support for Key affected populations (KPs) and people with disabilities. • To provide education to students and people with disabilities through seminars and workshops..
Accountability
While holding the nation to account on promises made to improve SRHR, HIV and Gender and organization and its community also hold themselves to a high standard of accountability and transparency in their individual and collaborative advocacy and empowerment effort in Zanzibar
